Live Painting with EttaVee: Halloween Brushstrokes

Supplies List - 10/24/2021

Setting up your painting area:

• Clean and flat area to paint

• Water to clean brushes

• Cloth or paper towels to dry brushes

• Canvas or *Pumpkin - I’ll be painting on small canvas panel with a surface of 9”x12”

• Paint Brushes*

  • Simply Simmons (US) Oval Wash 1” / Daler Rowney (non US) Graduate Oval Wash Brush 1”

  • Filbert - Size 8 or Filbert Comb - Size 10

  • Round Brush - Size 5 or 6

    *Please note that I will be painting on a small surface of 9 x 12, the brush sizes above reflect that. If you are painting on a larger surface, just make sure you have a large size brush, medium brush and small brush for details.

• Optional - Hair dryer for quicker drying

  *For those planning to paint on a pumpkin: If you plan to paint on a pumpkin, I recommend preparing the surface of the pumpkin by first cleaning it with soap & water and once dry, paint a layer of gesso. This will make your colors brighter. If you don’t have gesso you may use the Titanium white to paint a white layer on the pumpkin. A white pumpkin works as well!

Acrylic Paints:

I’ll be using a mix of paint brands Liquitex Basics and System3 Acrylics by Daler Rowney to show that you can create bright and colorful artwork using inexpensive paints! You may use any brand of acrylics of your choosing for this paint session. Feel free to select any specific colors that you want in your piece.

• Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue

• Magenta Quinacridone

• Cerulean Blue

• Black

• Metallic Gold

Optional - Cadmium Orange Hue, I will be showing you how to mix orange, but you can always have one on hand for quicker painting.

Paint Pens & Metallics:

Metallic Paint Pens - There are many many brands carrying metallic paint pens, the one below just happens to be my current favorite!

DecoColor Metallic Paint Pens

Posca Pens - I’ll be using Purple (bullet shaped, size 1.8-2.5mm) & Orange (bullet shaped, size 0.7mm). Feel free to pick up any colors & sizes you’d like.

Optional - Gilding Wax - color Empire Gold or King’s Gold
